Agreement Between The Government Of The Republic Of Latvia And The United Nations Development Programme On Establishment Of The UN House
The Government of the Republic of Latvia (hereinafter referred to as the "Government") and the United Nations Development Programme (hereinafter referred to as the "UNDP"),
considering their mutual undertakings provided for in the Agreement between the Government and the UNDP concluded on 23 December 1992 (hereinafter referred to as the "Agreement"), hereby agree as follows:
Article 1
In accordance with Article 6, paragraph 3, sub-paragraph (a) of the Agreement and the statement of the Secretary-General of the UN Kofi Annan on establishment of the UN House, the Government shall transfer the building in Riga, Pils St. 21 for lease to the UNDP for establishment of the UN House and expects that the UN specialised agencies, which perform their duties in Latvia, will be located there.
Article 2
The Government, in accordance with Article 6, paragraph 4, sub-paragraph (a) of the Agreement, shall grant the UNDP financial resources on annual basis for covering the rent charge of the premises.
Article 3
The rent arrangements shall be stipulated in the contract on the lease of premises between the State joint stock company "Diplomatic Service Agency", which is authorised to conclude such a contract and to administer the building in Riga, Pils St. 21, and the UNDP.
Article 4
This agreement shall enter into force upon signature.
It is understood that either Party may terminate this agreement at any time upon giving notice to another Party not less than 90 days before such termination.
DONE in Riga on 20th December 2000 in duplicate in Latvian and English, both texts being equally authentic.
