STATEMENT REGARDING BALTIC AND NORDIC COOPERATION
We, the three Presidents of the Baltic states, met in Tallinn on 15th December 1993 to discuss the prospects for future Baltic cooperation.
Taking note of the work of the Nordic Council and the Nordic Council of Ministers to date and the outcome of the Third Session of the Baltic Parliamentary Assembly;
further developing the views expressed during the Meeting of Baltic States and Nordic Foreign Ministers in Visby on 31st August 1993,
noting the very positive Declaration adopted by the Conference of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania:
the Presidents invite the Nordic countries to support the Foreign Minister's initiative which proposes joint Nordic and Baltic sessions of Foreign Ministers.
The Presidents trust that such meetings will take place regularly and will form the basis for practical and substantive cooperation according to a "3+5" formula.
